Alton’s answer to gothic style architecture, the ivy house was a behemoth of a Spoons, imposing and large.
We visited after a trip to the nearby Jane Austen museum, quaint and charming, we immersed ourselves in her life and befriended a cat.
We popped into the Ivy House en route to the train station and tried a Czech lager we had never seen before. It was not nice at all and had to be downed with several cigarettes in the huge beer garden.
The quest for the loos whilst lengthy, was worth it, to enjoy the Freudesque couch and fancy doors.
This Spoons was absolutely splendid and we would be thrilled to visit again, this time for our beloved Kronie, where we fortunate enough to return.
